La REcyclerie
A former Petite Ceinture railway station renovated into an experimental sustainable community space, La REcyclerie raises awareness and mobilizes the public around the challenges and alternatives for a more sustainable society in a fun, non-judgmental way. Reduce, reuse, and recycle are the three guiding principles. La REcyclerie has an Urban Farm, a bar, and a kitchen to delight all your senses.
Why we love them: All fruits and vegetables are seasonal. The menu evolves with the seasons. You can enjoy delicious seasonal juices at the bar. La REcyclerie hosts a distribution point for La Ruche qui dit Oui. Meat served is 100% French and comes from local producers, as does their charcuterie. All wines (bottles or bulk) are organic. Half the canteen is vegetarian. On Thursdays, the menu is exclusively vegetarian from breakfast through dinner. Meal scraps are entirely composted with Les Alchimistes. Tea and coffee grounds are composted within La REcyclerie’s Urban Farm. Kitchen peelings are given as food to the chickens or composted in La REcyclerie’s garden. Association members can bring their household peelings to compost at the Urban Farm. Utensils are wooden and compostable take-out containers are available for leftovers. For take out, you can choose between deposit-refund system glass jars or your own container.
Their recommendation: House-made drinks or La REcyclerie’s beer brewed from hops grown at the Urban Farm.
