Info
Yuba helps you eat sustainably without overthinking it. Launched in 2022, we're a digital guide to restaurants, cafés, bakeries, wine shops, and grocery stores committed to environmental responsibility. We believe the everyday choice—where you grab coffee, buy bread, pick up groceries—adds up. Supporting small, passionate businesses over chains does more than keep you healthy: it sustains small-scale farmers, protects local ecosystems, and funds the people building a better food system from the ground up.
When you eat seasonally and support local food, it helps you stay rooted and connected to land (even when living in a city). New planet-friendly places emerge every day—Yuba helps you discover them.

FAQ
How do you pick the spots you feature?
Our contributors select the spots themselves. We trust them to make their choices using our recommended sustainable business practices as a guideline.
Can I contribute to the guide?
If you know your city's sustainable spots inside and out, we'd love to hear from you! Please email ([email protected]) or DM us on Instagram. Note: your city must have a population of 100k+.
Do you accept submissions directly from businesses?
We accept submissions for our Paris guide. However, we do not accept submissions for other city guides.
Your Paris spots have more detail than your other guides. Why is that?
Yuba was born there, so Paris will always hold a special place in our hearts. Yet with time, it became unsustainable for us to continue with that level of detail. For our other city guides, we've dropped the fluff and are delivering the most important info: name & location.
I noticed a spot you recommend is permanently closed. What should I do?
Please let us know by email ([email protected]) or DM us on Instagram and we’ll remove it.
Where does the name Yuba come from?
Fun fact: Yuba is not named after the Kyoto delicacy yuba (tofu skin). Yuba is named after a river in California, near where founder Elisa grew up. The canyon is a magical ecosystem teeming with rainbow trout, crayfish, snakes, raccoons, bobcats, gray foxes, mountain lions—plus the occasional swimmer! The name embodies our mission: conserving and respecting nature while celebrating all it has to offer.
